    DRINKING FROM MY SAUCER

    I've never made a fortune

and it's probably too late now.

But I don't worry about that much,

    I'm happy anyhow.

And as I go along life's way,

I'm reaping better than I sowed.

    I'm drinking from my saucer,

    'Cause my cup has overflowed.

•They divided into four books known as

    1. Rig Veda

    2. Yajur Veda

    3. Sāma Veda

    4. Atharvana Veda.

    Vedas have 4 Parts

    Veda Purva

    1) Mantra or Samhita 2) Brāhmana Bhāgaha Karma 3) Āranyaka Upasana

Veda Anta 4) Upanishad Jnana./ Vedanta.

    Purushārtha

    – Human Goals.

    – Free will

Artha in Sanskrit has several meanings e.g. ‘meaning’, ‘wealth’. In this context it refers to a Goal, destination.

    ChaturvidhaPurushārtha. The four goals are

    1. Dharma - Values based on scriptures

    2. Artha - Wealth, Security.

    3. Kāma - Enjoy comforts, desires.

    4. Moksha

    Dharma Purushārtha

•Dharma Purushārtha can be defined as an invisible form of wealth

•Adrushtam (one that cannot be seen) - Punyam

•Secondly Dharma also contributes to our next birth

    Limitations of Dharma, Artha, Kama.

    •Dukha Mishritatvam - Pain, struggle

    •Atriptikaratvam - Not fulfilling

    •Bhandakatvam - Creates Bondage

When we talk about moksha or liberation, the question is – liberation or freedom from what?

•Bondage means confinement, restriction or limitation

•All of us experience the limitation – bodily limitations, intellectual limitation, resource limitation – this is called bandha or bondage

•All the time it is a struggle to overcome these limitations

    • We want to be in charge or in control of over lives

    • Many things we don’t want to happen, keep happening

    • And many things we want to happen, do not happen at all. J M
